HNT: summer in the city...

...means cleavage, cleavage, cleavage.

I realized yesterday at work during a mid-stock-search daydream that my childhood best friend's wedding in Aspen is only a few weeks away, and I have nothing to wear... Yikes! So on my way home, I stopped and tried on a few dresses, but I couldn't decide which one to get... so I got all four. Now I need help... Which should I keep?

black lace...
strapless chiffon...
nature girl...
or bit o' bling...

Another reason why Dove shampoo is heads above the rest.

Directions: Wet hair, lather, rinse.

Why, in this day and age, do so many shampoo companies feel that they should keep the repeat step? Lather, rinse, repeat. Do they have it so people will run out of shampoo faster and need to buy another bottle? Or do some people really need to repeat?

Some packages say: Lather, rinse, repeat as needed. How am I supposed to know if my hair necessitates a second go? Is the as needed intended for regular washers, or is it just intended for people who don't wash their hair for weeks at a time? Or is it intended for special circumstances of extreme grunginess, like when people get back from camping trips in the woods?

And I really don't get when the directions say: Lather, rinse, repeat as desired. As desired? Do people really have a strong desire to repeat? As desired sounds like they get off on it or something. Maybe if Herbal Essences really caused the reaction it did in the commercials, then I can see a desire to repeat, and repeat, and repeat... But Head and Shoulders? I think not.

But the biggest question here is: Why do shampoo bottles even need instructions? Does anyone actually follow them anyway? I think it is safe to assume that if you need instructions on how to use shampoo, you have bigger problems than your hair.

A week in the life

Here are a few of the happenings of the past week, with cell phone photos, that have kept this Jersey girl from her beloved blog. Please forgive.

Had to make a last minute drive up to Maine last Tuesday night after work with four friends. Unfortunately, it was for the funeral of a friend's dad. We came back on Wednesday. This sign was the highlight of the drive home...If you can't see, it says, Nature Calling? Really, really clean washrooms. I didn't try the washrooms, but a friend confirmed that the sign's assertion was truthful. Then on Thursday afternoon, I left work early to have root canal. Fun, fun. But, it really wasn't all that bad. I was totally numb, on pain killers, and had a TV to watch the Food Network while they were doing the deed. Who knew you could cook a whole meal in 30 minutes? Thanks Rachael Ray. Then on Friday, I went to a Yankees game, and there was a rain delay for the second time in a row...The last game I was at, a few Fridays ago, we waited an hour and a half for play to resume. This time, I just couldn't do it. I was no longer numb, or on pain killers, so the mouth was a bit sore. I had my dippin dots and was on my way.

I think things are finally turning around though. We went over to watch the fireworks by where I used to live, near the Statue of Liberty, which was rain-free and very enjoyable...Hope you had a Happy 4th!
