you take the good, you take the bad

My building was still closed today, due to last week's steam pipe explosion, so I've been working from home. Most of the time, I'd be thrilled to be able to work in my PJs on my laptop from bed, but in this case, it has truly been a pain and a half. We finally got on our server, but everything is so effing slow from home... And we have to get the magazine out on deadline. There are seriously no options. But, as stressful as the experience has been (both explosion and work drama), it really has been nice to have some time to decompress at home with the pup.

I have been trying now to focus on the good things that have happened in the past few weeks...

-I finally got my hair cut (all the way to my chin), after not getting it cut since last october because of the wedding... It felt amazing. Not feeling photo-ready at the moment, but trust me, it works... I'm a babe. :)

-I actually went to see a few movies in theaters recently (not just Netflix)... Saw Harry Potter, Knocked Up, and Sicko. Would actually recommend all three. Most of all Sicko.

-Our patio "garden" is growing beautifully, thanks to the hub. We have tomatoes, a plump bell pepper, and our two "love plants," a wedding shower gift, are still alive and thriving.

-Discovered (and became obsessed with) Amy Winehouse. Swoon. I can't believe that voice comes out of that girl... And Kathy Griffin. Funniest woman EVER. Evidently, she can make me laugh through the most difficult of situations. Tonight is the season finale... Tear.

-Went to a restaurant that I had been dying to return to for over a year (after going for a bachelorette party), called Buddakan, and had luscious edamame dumplings about which I had been totally obsessing. Drool. I could finally justify going to such a meal thanks to the good news that follows (drum roll please)...

-I actually got a promotion from Assistant Photo Editor to Associate Photo Editor. I am so appreciative, especially because there were so many people that deserved promotions this year, and they only had a few to give... Definitely a step in the right direction, and Buddakan was the perfect way to celebrate.

**This just in... Looks like we'll be heading back into the building tomorrow... Wish me luck.
